Professional Development

It is important to always stay updated in your profession whatever it may be.  Our world is always changing.  Whether you are a mother, student, educator or whatever people and time change.  If you do not change, you will be left behind.  I am a good example of this.  I can remember when sending an email would scare me to death.  I would always hit the wrong button or shut down the computer.  Now, I have come a long way because of this world of technology.  If you want to survive you have to know it.  Just the other day, my doctor and staff are now using laptops in their office.  He doesn't like it, but that's it.  If you want to continue in college, you have to know about technology.  Teaching is the same way.  My principal said that technology and writing are going to become the most important tools in school soon.

Another reason it is important for me is that I am always wanting to improve things.  Whether it be professionally or personally.  I guess that I am like the Army's slogan, "Be the best that you can be".

  1. It's absolutely true that the world will continue changing, even if you don't.
Interestingly, I wonder if technology and writing are going to become the most important tools in schools soon because they are interrelated. Since technology is (currently) text-oriented, it is important for someone in a 21st century world to be able to communicate ideas through writing. Not saying that this was not the case before, just that face-to-face conversations are decreasing and that e-mails, texting, etc. are increasing.
